Places of interest in my Hometown

MY HOMETOWN (Places of Attraction)

This is the airplane view of my hometown.

I live in Teluk Intan, Perak. A small and almost unknowable town in Perak. Most people I've met have not really heard of it.

Even though it is barely noticeable, there are a few places of attractions that tourists come to Teluk Intan for.

What Teluk Intan is most famous for is it's Leaning Clock Tower that is situated in the heart of the town.

 LEANING CLOCK TOWER

The overall view of the Leaning Clock Tower

The night view of the colourful Leaning Clock Tower.

The Leaning Clock Tower has been what Teluk Intan is most famous for. You can see buses stopping by to bring tourists to visit the Leaning Clock Tower, especially during weekends.

And yes, we have a Leaning Tower too, just like the Pisa in Italy.

WAR MEMORIAL STONE

This huge stone is situated in the center of the traffic island.
The plinth is inscribed "At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them"
This big stone can barely be unnoticed since everyday drivers will pass by this area.

FORMER COURT HOUSE

The former Court House building and is built in 1880 and is used as a court until 1983. On Sundays, the building doubled up as a church until St. Luke was built in 1911.
Now, the building has been taken over by the Army.

ST. LUKE THE EVANGELIST

This is the church that has been built to replace the former Court House.St. Luke the Evangelist is an Anglican church made holy in 1912. At that time, it was described as 'a very graceful structure and the interior is nicely through plainly furnished'.

RAJA MUDA'S PALACE

This is the ruins of Raja Muda's Palace which is in the middle of 3 schools surrounding it.
It is believed by many that this is haunted.

HOCK SOON TEMPLE

Not only we have a few historical churches but we also have a few heritage temples. This Hock Soon temple was built by the Hokkien community in the 1883. This temple has been one of the most often visited temple because of its uniqueness and the beautifully decorated decorations surrounding the temple.
Because of this, many events like Classical Chinese opera are often held in this temple.

FORMER POLICE STATION

The former police station is one of the oldest buildings in the town. Now, a new police station has been built up and the old one looks abandoned and isolated but is in danger of being demolished.

NAGARATHAR THENDAYUTHAPANI TEMPLE

The Nagarathar Thendayuthapani temple which was built by the Chettiar community in 1899. It always holds some important Indian festivals.

TELUK ANSON CHINESE CLUB

This can also be considered as one of heritage building in Teluk Intan because the building still bears the old name of the town.
